The years between the1986 to the 1992 marked the peak of crack use largely in urban cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. Crack spread through the United States during this time period. Though it is not as intense as it used to be, crack use and abuse is still a major social issue in the African American community. Reports of numerous crack related stories such as absent fathers and or mothers due to incarceration or crack abuse, public health problems of unprotected sex and pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and gang related issues.
